Judas betrays, Mary Perfumes; God waits for the response to the invitation
Christians recognize this day as the day that Judas, a beloved disciple of Jesus, chose to betray Jesus. The religious leaders of the time were angry with Jesus for some of the parables he used to teach lessons to his followers that put some religious leaders in a bad light. Judas found himself jealous of the amount of love and adoration being shown to Jesus. For 30 pieces of silver, the religious leaders convinced Judas to betray Jesus and hand him over for arrest.
To commemorate this day, Christians will read specific scriptures and sing hymns. Some will burn an effigy of Judas to symbolize disappointment in Judas's choice in the days leading up to the crucifixion of Jesus. Celebrations for this day are reading particular scriptures, singing hymns, and burning an effigy of Judas. Going to church is also another way to celebrate with your family.
